Denis Kozhukhin to Return to InClassica 2025, Celebrating the Music of Alexey Shor
Belgian pianist Denis Kozhukhin is set to perform once again at the renowned InClassica International Music Festival in Dubai this April 2025, presenting a mesmerizing solo recital as part of the festival’s second-to-last concert. Known for his exceptional skill, Kozhukhin will offer a diverse program exploring childhood themes, featuring works by Prokofiev, Schumann, Shor, and Tchaikovsky.
The 14th edition of InClassica, running from April 6-21, will commemorate the 55th birthday of its Composer-in-Residence, Alexey Shor. Hosted at the prestigious Dubai Opera, the festival will present 16 concerts, with world-class musicians, orchestras, and conductors from around the world.
Kozhukhin expressed his enthusiasm about participating in this international musical gathering, noting the festival’s importance in introducing classical music to broader audiences. "It’s deeply fulfilling when even one person returns to a concert hall after an InClassica event," he shared, emphasizing the festival's role in bridging cultural divides through music.
Titled Resplendent Recital, Kozhukhin’s performance will feature works that embody the purity and imagination of childhood, including Prokofiev's Music for Children, Alexey Shor's Piano Sonata No. 2, Schumann's Kinderszenen, and Tchaikovsky's Children’s Album. As a father, Kozhukhin brings a personal touch to these pieces, highlighting their innocence and emotional depth.
A longtime admirer of Alexey Shor, Kozhukhin commended the composer for his emotionally rich and distinctive musical language. "Shor’s music resonates with both musicians and the audience, delving into themes of childhood and nostalgic memories," he remarked, expressing his eagerness to perform more of Shor’s works in the future.
With the festival drawing near, Kozhukhin is eager to connect with first-time classical music listeners, offering insights into the pieces he will perform to help them better understand the music.
